XPeng EV Background
The story of XPeng is a typical tale of an innovative EV startup from China, started by talented engineers and backed by powerful Chinese companies. In this case, XPeng is the brainchild of former executives from GAC group (automotive manufacturer), Alibaba (retail giant), and Xiaomi (consumer electronics). The company was founded in 2014 and immediately set two main courses for development – electric vehicles and autonomous driving systems. Very soon, the XPeng introduced its first model, the G3 SUV, and started testing its self-driving models (XPILOT) in several parts of the world. The XPeng also invested in its own battery technology with some success. In late 2020, XPeng started selling its cars in Europe, first only in some markets, but it is slowly moving towards the whole European market. We at Voldt are always intrigued by such innovative companies and welcome new EV models on the European market by developing special charging cable solutions for their cars.
XPeng EV Models
The first XPeng model was the G3, which was discontinued in late 2023 but still can be seen on the roads. It had solid technology, modern design, and decent range, and in conjunction with sufficient range, it attracted the interest of prospective EV buyers. However, the XPeng reached a wider audience with the P7i, a performance sedan with an aggressive design and vivid performance, launched in 2023. Along with the sedan, XPeng offers a full-size SUV called G9 in Europe. This is a modern EV by all standards and equipped with the latest technology, including the XPeng's signature autonomous driving systems.
XPeng EV Technology
The first XPeng model (G3 SUV) had a 66 kWh battery pack and was delivered with a front or AWD drive train. This model is aimed at buyers looking for long-range and not performance. But, the XPeng P7i, a sport sedan, is all about the speed with an 86.2 kWh battery, dual motors, and 473 hp. This model has acceleration figures (0 to 100 km/h) in just 4.1 seconds. It also has a 400 v battery architecture with AC and DC charging at 11 kW or 182 kW. XPeng claims up to 450 km of range on a full charge. However, the XPeng G9 SUV is even more capable with a 78 kWh (Standard Range) or 98 kWh (Long Range) battery pack. For a more expensive model, XPeng claims 520 km of range. It also supports AC and DC charging at 11 and 300 kW rates. Even though XPeng's model lineup is diverse, we at Voldt readily have all the charging cable solutions you need to power those exciting machines safely and quickly.
